  • 1995-96 was one of the most turbulent times in lucha libre history. Since these matches were never shown on television, only fans close enough to Tijuana, Mexico and it's bordering towns were fortunate enough to watch AAA lucha libre at its wildest. Influenced by the hardcore stylings of promotions like FMW, IWA, and ECW, head booker Konnan decided to bring a "hardcore" element to lucha that had never been seen south of the border. As a result, sell-out crowds went wild, full-scale riots erupted, fines and suspensions were handed down, wrestlers defected from AAA, and lucha libre was forever changed. Since TV cameras were barred from the venues, this video features some of the only existing footage of the chaos in Tijuana. Mexican Mayhem Vol. 1 will take you back to where it all began. Mexican Mayhem Vol. 1 is a must have for any serious fan of lucha libre and hardcore professional wrestling.
